Favorite Christmas Carols

So sticking with the holiday theme this week, we asked the whole LoneStar Team which Christmas Carols were their favorite to sing around this time of year. Check out which tunes they selected as their Favorite Christmas Carols:

Alicia - Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep
(Bing Crosby from White Christmas)

Rob - When I was in college my performing arts class had to sing and play a Christmas song at a recital for a grade. I picked "O Holy Night" because it sounds so good on acoustic guitar. My friend, singer Laura Taylor sang lead while I played classical guitar. We played for about two hundred people and got a standing ovation and a pretty good grade!"O Holy Night" is my favorite!

Corina - Jingle Bell Rock

Lana - White Christmas

Chad - Leroy the Redneck Reindeer

Tasha - Jingle Bell Rock

Matt - anything involving Scrooge lol

Levi - God Rest Ye Marry Gentleman

Jason - Let It Snow

Lindsay - Frosty the Snowman and Silent Night

LoneStar's Name Badge Materials

Many customers have often asked what materials LoneStar uses to produce it's name badges. Since LoneStar offers a wide range of printing and engraving processes for our badges, the materials we use to create our badges varies so much. To help you better determine which badges or even which printing processes may be the best fit for you and your company, check out some of the badge materials we use and the printing process that go along with them...

Engravable Plastic Name Badges:
LoneStar's laser engraved name badges are all made from a 1/16" thick two-toned engravable plastic. They are a durable choice, as well as a great one for detailed artwork due to the abilities of most laser engravers. The plastic is strong and can be tough enough for every day use, but is also lightweight, more flexible, and safer for use around children, in hospitals, or in busy restaurants. The plastic can also be easily trimmed to include the added safety of rounded corners, as well as include beveled edges for that more professional look. The textured engravable plastic option also available is even more durable and gives the badges that little extra surface appeal. The textured engravable plastic is also UV stable and scratch resistant to help protect your artwork for a long time to come.

LoneStar's Engravable Plastic Name Badges Include: the BLP, BTP, WBWL1, WBWL2, WBWL3, WBWT1, and the WBWT2

PVC Plastic Name Badges:
PVC Plastic, which is most commonly used for digitally printed badges, is a durable and very popular choice among many fields. LoneStar uses .30mil and .60mil PVC plastic cards to print most of our full-color digital badges. The cards are very similar to a credit card material, just normally slightly thicker. Although the printing itself may not stand up to constant intense heat or sun, the actual badges themselves are heat resistant and won't warp if some exposure takes place. The printing does however include a protective clear overlay coat as the last step of the digital process to help preserve the printing and the surface of the PVC. For everyday use in busy or strenuous environments, PVC plastic name badges are all around a pretty durable, as well as can be a cost-effective, choice.

LoneStar's PVC Plastic Name Badges Include: the BMP, BZP, W110, and the W210

Sublimated Metal Name Badges:
Every company varies in the different types of metal badges they offer and the types available will slightly depend on the type of printing or engraving process to be used. However, LoneStar chooses to use a .015" strong and lightweight metal for sublimated name badges. The badges are offered in full-color and are an extremely durable choice for every day use. The acrylic backer or metal frame that can be added as well can give the metal badges some added thickness and strength. The metal badge option isn't always the most cost effective option, especially since it's offered with full-color dye-sublimated printing, but is the perfect choice for an elegant, professional, and long-lasting name badge.

LoneStar's Metal Name Badges Include: the BEP and the WBWE1

Holiday Traditions

This week, to get everyone more in the holiday spirit, we asked the entire LoneStar Team what their favorite holiday traditions were. Here are the responses:

*Mary*
My favorite Christmas tradition is on Christmas Eve. We have a fire in the fireplace, we snack on home made Christmas cookies and drink hot cocoa. We have Christmas music playing in the background while I read aloud passages from the Bible on the birth of Jesus Christ. Then each of us opens one gift. We always make sure the kids get to open up a gift and that they don't open the present from Grandma that has socks and underwear in it by mistake. Hahaha. (That actually happened one year and they cried)

*Chad*I like hanging out with my family and since it is my baby Jack's first Christmas I'm looking forward to making some new traditions! Like throwing up on mommy!

*Corina* Cooking tamales with family. It's fun because we tell jokes and family stories.

*Joe* Midnight Mass, gifts, sleeping, hopefully it will be cold, A Christmas Story marathon.

*Levi* So, we haven't done this recently, haha, but we used to have a "Christmas Hunt" when we were little. The Christmas Hunt was just like a scavenger hunt where when you wake up in the morning you get one clue under the tree, whether it be a tape recorder or just a piece of paper, and then we'd fly off to figure out the clues! We'd have the little presents under the tree of course, but the bigger ones were always hidden in the hunt.

*Jason* HANDS DOWN, my absolute favorite Christmas Tradition is: Playing Monopoly on Christmas Eve with my Brother Mikal. We've done it it every year since about 1998 or so. First we go to Wal-Mart and buy cinnamon rolls, promise land dairy chocolate milk, and egg-nog. Quickly we return home, bust out the board, and play until someone is broke or gives up heading that way. Nothing but Christmas music is listened to and at midnight we call all our friends to be the first to tell them Merry Christmas. This is by far my favorite Christmas tradition.

*Lana* My favorite Christmas tradition is when we all go to Mom and Dad's house on Christmas Eve. One person every year stands and tells what they are thankful for. I am most thankful to have a wonderful family like I do! They are the Best! We also eat and play games and open lots of presents. My mom always reads a story to us while we watch the kids play with their toys! I really enjoy being with my family! I can't wait for Christmas this year and all the new traditions I can start with my Grandbaby. She is One! It will be the best one ever!! Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year!

*Lindsay* We have many traditions in my family, but I think my favorite always was gathering with my entire family on Christmas Eve. Everyone would take a turn each year "hosting" the party, but everyone would bring lots of food and gifts.

*Tasha* We always get a new x-mas puzzle each year, set up a card table, and put some pieces together when passing by until it's finished.
Plus, we have biscuits and chocolate gravy at least one morning over the holiday vacation...mmmmm. It's sooo good.

The LoneStar Team's Favorite Name Badge of the Week

This badge, ordered by The Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, is one of LoneStar's digitally printed BMP name badges. It's also Lana's favorite badge this week because it was one of the first orders she remembers working on when she started at LoneStar. She especially loved the artwork on these badges and the colors in the building and the lights. The digital printing was really able to capture all the finer details that make this badge so unique and beautiful.
