This week's survey gets a little personal, so be prepared! We asked the LoneStar Team..."What is something about you that people you know may find shocking or surprising?" Check out our responses:
ROB: I used to be a full time musician. I played guitar in bands from the age of 18 till around the age of 36. In 1979, the band I was in did a small mid-west tour with the bands "Boston" and "Cheap Trick". Later I did more of a jazz fusion instrumental type thing. It was fun and exciting, but it was time to settle down. Now I play a lot of acoustic guitar and write songs about life.
ALICIA: At one time, I wanted to join the Navy. I signed up with a recruiter to take the test and physical. At the last minute, my Dad talked me out of it. Also, I used to be a Domino's Pizza delivery driver. I loved it! It was such a fun job!!
JOE: I like to read on my spare time.
LINDSAY: I love pizza and my favorite TV show is "I Love Lucy".
LEVI: SO I had to tell this story again. Just for the blog my classic story, most surprising thing I've ever done for sure...
At work, I must have been in a really good mood. I was feeling a little tired so I went to a nearby gas station to get something to drink. While getting my fountain drink I thought to myself: dang, I don't have anyone to shoot this straw at. Then I noticed the small 16-18 year old girl working the counter, and I thought to myself: "haha, that'd be funny."
SO I unwrapped half the straw to where I could hold it in my mouth and prepared to walk up to the counter. The girl turns around as I shoot the paper from the straw and it hits her DEAD ON in the middle of her forehead! Classic. Her response... "what the heck!" Then she got really confused/angry and just said "your weird!"... not in a good tone.
Halfway through the awkward check-out, she says: "You don't even know me?! And you just..."
so i finished for her: "Ya, I did, and your going to go home, and tell all your friends that some random guy came in here and shot you in the face with a straw!" and she simply replied... "ya..." in a sigh.
Then I left. As soon as I reached my car I COULD NOT STOP LAUGHING, and could not for the next two hours. HAHA.
JASON: The Day I Thought I'd Lost My Little Brother: The month was November, the air was piercing cold. Young Mikal and I had ventured out into the field to work on our new fort for the approaching winter. Mikal decides to take a break from the fort constructing and go inside to get some leftover Thanksgiving turkey. I remain behind to continue the fort building process. 20 minutes or so pass, and suddenly I hear an oh-too-familiar crying. So I followed the sound of the wails only to find my young brother at the bottom of the tree in our front yard. He had apparently decided to climb it to eat his fat hunk of turkey, slipped, busted his lip, scraped his stomach, and spit turkey all over the ground. But to my young undeveloped mind, he had slipped, hit his stomach, and the impact of the stomach blow had caused him to blast his intestines all over the ground (the turkey); the bloody mouth only assured this assumption even further. So as I fall to my knees and begin to scream "No God No Please No!", Mikal just wails on and I am now rivaling his powerful screeches, naturally all this commotion is bound to attract some visitors. Our Australian shepherd (Joey) comes over to see what the fuss is about and quickly begins eating what I believe is my brother's organs. So as I take Mikal into the house thinking each step could be his last, he finally explains about the turkey and the lip busting and I was so relieved I didn't even feel like a total idiot. That changed my life forever!
TASHA: Approximately 6 years ago, I was out with two friends of mine. On our way to the next "establishment", I walked ahead to give the love birds a little alone time as I was the third wheel that night. As soon as I saw the walk signal letting me know it was "safe" to cross the street, a white Dodge Ram 4x4 begins to take a left turn from the intersecting street. Therefore, I hesitate to cross. Well, the driver then hesitated, so I proceeded to walk. As soon as I am directly in front of the truck, the driver hits the gas, hits me, and I go rolling 20 feet down the street. ...years before, I had a little training in tucking and rolling, so when the rolling stopped, I got back up in fighting stance, completely stunned and as if I was ready to attack. Fortunately, the training I had loosened me up enough to the point that I didn't have a scratch or any broken bones. After emerging from the ER, I was told I had a slight bruise on my left shoulder from the initial impact. Good times. My life has definitely been interesting.
